Our Leather

Available in three distinctly different varieties – antique, premium and hand-dyed – our leathers are selected for their consistent density, unique finish and extensive shade range.

We also offer a beautiful variety of wool and velvet, along with a newly-added line of metallic leather swatches. Want to see our range for yourself? Come and visit us at our Honley (Huddersfield) showroom, or take a look around our brand new flagship chesterfield premises in St John’s Hill, London.

In the meantime, request a Distinctive Chesterfields brochure and samples of up to five leather colours of your choice, via our handy leather swatch and brochure request form.

Antique – Blacked prior to being applied and hand-rubbed on completion, antique leather is also hand-sealed to protect the surface and produce an authentic antiqued appearance.

Premium – A luxurious choice, our premium leather has a finer grain and is pre-treated with a special blend of natural finishing products for a supple appearance. This leather offers a semi-distressed and textured finish, creating a ‘pull up’ effect that subtly changes the colour of the leather as it contours around the shape of the sofa.

Deluxe – Finished using traditional methods, the deluxe range is hand dyed by professional leather workers. With a rich, deep colour over a fine grained leather that is soft and supple, this is a leather that will improve with age to develop its own characteristic patina over the years. Please note: while every care is taken to match hides where more than one is required to upholster your sofa, there may still be a slight colour variation. This leather features natural blemishes and marks, which will fade if exposed to sunlight.

Wool

Should you want to complement your existing leather chesterfield sofa with a wool wing back chair, we can help. Or perhaps you’d like a three-piece suite upholstered in wool? No problem.

Here at Distinctive Chesterfields, we’re thrilled to offer you not just a choice of high quality, 100% bovine leather, but now a brand new collection of luxurious wool swatches.

Made by Abraham Moons (established in 1827) in its British mill – one of the last remaining vertical woollen mills – the wool goes through a thorough manufacturing process to ensure you can enjoy only the best end product.

We offer a stunning range of prints to choose from, too, from traditional plaid (checked) wool, to plain but equally attractive shades and swatches.

There’s a great many benefits to choosing wool; the material offers durability, is easy to care for, naturally anti-static, flame-retardant, and eco-friendly.

Wool is also hypoallergenic, meaning it’s resistant to bacteria, as well as featuring a unique natural cell structure to work in harmony with its environment.

Velvet

Established in 1991 by John Kitching, Northcroft Fabrics offers a beautiful collection of velvet to complete our current range of luxury swatches.

A plain cotton velvet made in Berkshire, the Rochelle range is available here on our site in five beautiful colours to ensure you find exactly what you’re looking for.

A big hit with interior designers and home owners, velvets offer high quality and great style. Effortlessly complementing traditional and contemporary homes, velvet is hard wearing and soft to the touch – a luxurious selection for any living room.
